The Theatre Academy will focus on theatre as a collaborative art through a series of hands-on workshops that explore acting, directing, devising, and dramaturgy. During the week, we will consider how to use drama and theatre pedagogies to build community, deepen skill development in the art form, and engage students through story. Tools and strategies taught in this session serve both secondary classroom educators and extra-curricular theatre directors.

Joshua Rashon Streeter, streetjr@jmu.edu, is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Education and serves as the Coordinator for the Theatre Education Licensure Program at James Madison University. Joshua's research focuses on drama pedagogy, curriculum design, and community engagement. In addition, he is a professional director and theatre education consultant. Joshua has created and facilitated workshops across the nation, including the American Alliance for Theatre and Education National Conference, Educational Theatre Association National Conference, Woodruff Arts Center Educator Conference, NYU Forum on Educational Theatre, National Association for the Education of Young Children National Conference, Tennessee Arts Academy, Drama for Schools Summer Institute, and Virginia Theatre Association. www.JoshuaRashonStreeter.com
